We all know the old adage: an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Turns out, that maybe citrus fruits are the answer thanks to vitamin C. Vitamin C is highly concentrated in immune cells and is vital for their proper functioning (4). Therefore, when depleted of vitamin C our immune system is compromised and we become more susceptible to common colds and other viruses.
