A Few Tips For Vegetarians Transitioning to Vegans

While it is true that vegetarian diet is much healthier than “regular” modern diet which usually includes many carbs, fats and junk food in general, it is also true that many experts consider vegan lifestyle to be much more useful. So, if you are a vegetarian who wants to become a vegan, you should take a few things into consideration. The following tips will help you with the transition.

Replace cow dairy products with plant-based dairy products

This is probably the easiest change that you can make in your diet. All dairy products that come from animals like cows, sheep and goats must be replaced with foods like plant-based dairy products, tofu or specially designed vegan dairy. This change will help you test the effects of plant=based dairy products while you are still following a vegetarian diet. In this way, you will find the preparation of food you love and includes dairy products less challenging later.

Introduce a day of fasting

Pick one day in the week during which you will not consume honey, yeast or dairy products. It is best to choose a day in which there is the slightest chance that you will have to eat outside and be present on some family gatherings. Try to see how you feel on that day. Assigning one day each week when you will follow a vegan diet will help the transition and it will provide the necessary inspiration and motivation.

Replace regular butter with plant-based butter

If you are like most people then you probably like butter. If you want to become a vegan you will have to use plant=based butter. Coco butter is ideal for baking and roasting. If you need butter for making bread you can try almonds, hazelnuts, cashew nuts, walnuts etc. it is good to point out that plant-based butters can be very expensive, so it is a good idea to prepare them at home. This procedure is not very difficult and in most cases the only tool you will need is a blender.
